Set sail for an unforgettable kayaking adventure at Pigeon Creek & Snow Bay National Park, located in southeast San Salvador, The Bahamas. This park is home to many juvenile species and is an indispensable nursery to support fisheries stocks of conch, crawfish, grouper, and other marine life.
As you paddle through the calm waters of Pigeon Creek, the only tidal body of water on the island, you’ll be surrounded by a diverse ecosystem. The park encompasses mangroves, seagrasses, hard bottom corals, and sponges, and is home to the island’s main population of sea urchins. It is the only nursery area for the Nassau Grouper and is a nursery area for spiny lobster and numerous other reef fish.
The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with high bird activity. If you’re lucky, you might even stumble upon the ruins of old houses, remnants of a small settlement named after the park that has long since been abandoned.
So, grab your paddle and get ready to explore the hidden treasures of Pigeon Creek & Snow Bay National Park from the comfort of your kayak. It’s an excursion you won’t forget!
